Heartwood Community School is committed to making our website usable by everyone in our community, including families and students with disabilities. This page explains where we stand, what we’re actively working on, and how to reach us if something on this site doesn't work for you.
Our conformance status
We are working toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the standard adopted by the U.S. Department of Justice for public entities under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of this site do not yet fully meet the standard. We have completed a full review of the site, we know what needs to change, and that work is underway.
We expect to reach full conformance by January 31, 2027[.
What we know needs work
As of August 20, 2026, we are aware of the following:
- Color contrast. Some text on our site does not yet have enough contrast against its background to be comfortably readable by people with low vision. We are updating our color palette across every page.
- Linked documents. Some of the PDFs and documents linked from this site, including policy documents and monthly menus, may not be fully accessible to screen readers. If you need any document in a different format, we will provide it. See "Getting content another way" below.
- Outside services. Some parts of our online experience are provided by other companies, including our enrollment application and embedded maps. We do not control how those are built, but we are responsible for the experience they give you. If you hit a barrier there, tell us and we will help you complete what you were trying to do, and raise it with the provider.
We will update this list as items are resolved.

Getting content another way
If any page, document, form, or menu on this site isn’t accessible to you, we will provide the information in another format at no cost. That might mean large print, plain text, an accessible electronic document, someone reading it to you over the phone, or an in-person conversation.
Contact us using any of the methods above and tell us what works best for you.
Filing a complaint
If you have raised a concern with us and are not satisfied with how it was handled, you may file a formal grievance.

How we assessed this site
This statement reflects a full review of every public page on heartwoodcommunityschool.org completed in August 2026. The review combined automated testing against the WCAG 2.1 Level AA ruleset with manual checks of keyboard navigation, screen reader structure, color contrast, form labelling, and mobile layout.
This statement was last reviewed on August 31, 2026.
